Hands-On Photo Editing Class!

We're often asked for a Photoshop class and here it is! But it's more than just Photoshop, this class is going to walk you through the basic processes and tasks of editing your pictures with an eye towards the final image. This is not just a class on how to do things in Photoshop, but how to use Photoshop and photo-editing software in your workflow.

Topics Covered Include:

  • Setting Photoshop options for best results
  • Understanding the RAW v. JPG "debate"
  • Color management
  • Understanding the post-production workflow
  • Typical post-production techniques
    • Camera RAW
    • curves and levels
    • adjustment layers and masking
    • painting with light
    • teeth whitening, blemish removal, skin softening
    • dodging and burning
    • sharpening
  • Adding watermarks and logos
  • Getting ready for print
  • Soft proofing
  • Additional resources

This is a class where you will learn both real-life post-production techniques while, at the same time, putting them into the context of how to do post-production for your digital photography.

Who Should Attend?

This class is open to anyone and everyone who wants to learn how, and why, certain techniques are used in the post production process.

Required Gear:

This is a hands-on class and, as such, you will need a laptop (or binrg your desktop computer) with Photoshop installed. If you don't have Photoshop, you can download it directly from Adobe and install it as a 30-day free trial.

Images will be provided so that everyone is working on the same techniques.

If you are downloading and installing the free trial, please do not install it any earlier than a couple of days before the class.

What If You Use An Application Other Than Photoshop?

There are other image editing applications out there such as GIMP, Photoshop Elements, Paint Shop Pro, etc. If you use one of these applications instead, you can still take this class because the concepts are applicable. However, the specific steps for these techniques will be different. With the handouts you will receive, you can easily go back and lok up the steps when you're home.
